Bowmaster Prelude

Are you a casual player of Castle Defence Games looking for a new challenge? Then BowMaster Prelude by Lost Vector's Jason Reinsvold is certainly a game you might enjoy. It is a combination between skill game and action game.

In Bowmaster Prelude you do not aim at invaders directly by clicking but you fire an arrow from your castle by using the mouse. Power and angle of shot are determined by intuitive clicking and pulling. The track of your last shot is always displayed to make it easier for you to improve your shooting skills.

During the game you might like to improve your arrows and skills, too. This can be done between the individual levels, where you can buy further arrows or even recruit troops during the levels. Gold and experience are earned when you hit an enemy soldier with a basic arrow.

Those are the good aspects. But you should be clear in your mind that recruited troops are taken from the people and also cost gold. Correspondingly, if you want to throw all your troops into war, your people are reduced and you will earn less gold/XP between levels. Thus you should try to find a good balance.

As soon as you start to recruit troops, this process continues, until you stop it by clicking on the green bar at the top of the unit. There are a lot of arrows available which can be used against different kinds of soldiers to attack as efficiently as possible.

Is just firing arrows too boring for you? Your hero is able to leave the castle, too. Just click A/D to move him left and right. As soon he is near your castle you can take him back there by using the W key.

Analysis

BowMaster Prelude turns out to be a fascinating game even for those among us who do not like these kinds of games at all. All functions are explained in detail in the help section but you can also simply trust your intuition. All in all, BowMaster Prelude is something of a classic but nevertheless very special.
